Let me tell you about the movie in my mind. The plot’s ancient but it never gets old. A mysterious stranger saunters into a town run by upright, God-fearin’ folk, men of the rectitude of, oh, a Ted Cruz or a Governor Pence. Let’s call the town Gopville. The man’s loud and profane and a sneer curls his lips; he leers at the local women. Oh, he’s a bad one, all right. The city fathers turn their backs to let him know he isn’t welcome, and they assumes he’ll soon move on.

It’s a pathetic strategy, popular among cuckolds thought it rarely works. It doesn’t work in Gopville. Yes, the heat of passion ebbs, as the stranger reveals himself to be such a grotesque monster little children are ordered inside. But the affair has opened the people’s eyes once and for all to the town leaders. What losers they all are!
